At Austin Sports Therapy, we have one mission:
To help patients get out of pain and back to their respective activities as quickly as possible.
Our Doctors bring to Austin their advanced treatment systems after having trained under elite doctors from New York and San Francisco. Using that experience, our doctors have established specific protocols for almost every type of patient and every type of injury. Whether you are a professional athlete, weekend warrior, or starting your first training program, AST has a protocol that can be set up specifically for you. Working directly alongside physicians in multiple fields ensures that you will get the necessary treatment you need, allowing you to respond to treatment immediately. In turn, you will reach your goals of optimal health and performance.
Active Release Technique™ (ART) is a state of the art, non-invasive treatment for soft-tissue injury involving muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. ART uses highly specific protocols combining both active motion and tension to diagnose and treat the injured area and surrounding soft tissue. Using both active motion and tension, ART is able to separate adhesions, break down scar tissue, and release entrapped nerves and blood vessles. Adhesions and scar tissue due to acute injury, repetitive movement, or constant tension, cause pain and decreased motion throughout the body, inhibiting movement and proper biomechanics. The goal of ART is to restore optimal biomechanics to a joint complex or muscle group, and decrease pain and symptoms such as tingling, burning, aching, and weakness. This in turn increases strength, athletic performance, and overall funtionality during daily activities.
With Active Release Technique we are able to treat all major overuse injuries assocaited with swimming, biking or running.
